Mission

Ophthalmic plastic surgery is a rapidly evolving and expanding subspecialty in Ophthalmology that involves the management of disorders of the eyelid and adnexa, lacrimal system, orbit, and orbito-ocular tumours. It also involves cosmetic and functional disorders of the face and its muscles. These disorders can be caused by congenital deformities, trauma, inflammation, infections, neoplasms, and involutional changes etc. Treatment could be medical, surgical or adjunctive, and is aimed at treating the underlying aetiology and improving the appearance and function of the facial/ periocular area.

The Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Association of Nigeria (OPSAN) is the registered group of Nigerian Ophthalmologists who specialize in the management of ophthalmic plastic surgery disorders. The Association was incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria on the 9th of September 2019.
