He had his MBBS in Lagos in 1987, MRCOphth in 1992 and FRCOphth in 1994.
He also has a PGD in HSM (Health Systems Management) from the University of London in 2003. He is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with the Eye Doctors Hospital, Lagos State. He served as Commissioner of the Lagos State Health Service Commission from 2009-2015, and he was also the Acting Chairman of the Lagos State Tennis Association from 2013-2015. He has also served as the President, Zonal Chairman, and Regional Chairman of Lions Club International

Dr Olusola Olawoye is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the College of
Medicine University of Ibadan Nigeria. She is a Fellow of the West African
College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College
(Ophthalmology). She has a Fellowship in Glaucoma from the New York Eye and
Ear Infirmary in Manhattan New York United States. She also has a MSc
(Epidemiology and Medical Statistics), PhD in Epidemiology from the University
of Ibadan and a PhD in Medicine from the Queens University Belfast United
Kingdom
She has authored over 70 peer-reviewed papers. She is a speaker at many
international and national conferences. She is currently the Secretary-General of
the Ophthalmological Society of Nigeria, Vice Chairman of both the Glaucoma
Society of Nigeria and the Pan African Glaucoma Association. She represents
Africa on the Council of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA) and the
Education Committee of the WGA. She is the deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory
Committee (DCMAC) at the University College Hospital. She is also the Head of
Glaucoma Services at the Department of Ophthalmology University of Ibadan.
She is an investigator on multiple grants. Dr Olawoye has a passion for impactful
research, training of younger colleagues and continuous medical education. She
has led collaborative research across SSA. Her research interest is in genetics,
glaucoma diagnosis and screening and improving equitable access to glaucoma
care in Sub-Saharan Africa

Dr Chinedu Anthony Okeke is a consultant Ophthalmologist and glaucoma
specialist with Rightsight specialist eye center, Okota, Isolo, Lagos state.
He obtained a bachelor of medicine and surgery degree (MBBS) from the
University of Nigeria and a master of surgery degree (ChM) from the University of
Edinburgh. He is a fellow of the West African college of surgeons, fellow of
national postgraduate medical college of Nigeria and fellow of the international
council of ophthalmology. He also obtained a subspecialty fellowship in glaucoma
from the Duke Eye center, Durham, North Carolina, USA.
Dr Okeke has authored several articles and involved in improving the quality of
eye care in Nigeria especially in glaucoma management.
He is the assistant secretary general of the ophthalmological society of Nigeria
(OSN)

Dr. Tarela Frederick Sarimiye, MBBS, FWACS, FMCOPH, FICO, is the secretary of the OSN.
He is a fellow of the LV Prasad Eye Institute Glaucoma programme and a recipient of the ICO-Glaucoma Fellowship (New York Eye & Ear Infirmary). He is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Glaucoma Specialist at the Department of Ophthalmology, University College Hospital Ibadan and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ibadan.

Professor Bekibele, the outgoing Editor in Chief of the Nigerian Journal of Ophthalmology and Transactions of OSN, is a consultant ophthalmologist at the University College Hospital Ibadan. Took over as assistant editor of NJO in the year 2003 when he was Secretary General of OSN. He took over as substantive editor in Chief in September 2013. Was reappointed in 2018. His tenure expires from September 1st 2023.
